Since my last post… June 21, 2017

I haven’t posted in a month and a half. Here’s what I’ve been up to since then:

• Watching videos by several YouTube creators has inspired me to start posting my own. Since late May, I’ve been preparing episodes of a series called Mike Chimeri’s Music Collection, where I will showcase the CDs – and a handful of LPs – in my collection. I have voiceover and pictures of the CDs and their liner notes for eight episodes. The next step will be adding on-camera intros and outros. For copyright reasons, I can’t include excerpts of songs from the albums I choose, but links to listings will be in the descriptions below the videos. I hope to start posting videos by next month. Wish me luck.
• On June 2, I took pictures and video of the Book of the Month Committee play at Leo F. Giblyn Elementary School. The play was a faculty production, with a few students included, and showcases characters from various children’s books, as well as historical figures.
• Just last Saturday, my cousin Chris married his partner Dennis at Chelsea Mansion in Muttontown, not too far from LIU Post where Chris and I earned bachelor’s degrees. I got mine in 2004 while he got his in ’08. As I always do at weddings of family and friends, I took pictures during the ceremony and reception, edited them the next day, and posted them to Facebook. Feedback has been unanimously positive.

There aren’t any jazz concerts on the horizon for me, but I hope to go to at least one later this summer or fall. I know for sure that I’ll be at the Long Island Retro Gaming Expo on August 13, and at LIU Post Homecoming on October 14. This year marks the 40th anniversary of WCWP’s Homecoming Weekend programming block, and I hope to be a part of it, as I have been since 2006.
