Last Wednesday, I attended Freeport‘s annual 9/11 memorial ceremony, held on South Bayview Avenue across from Bayview Hose Company No. 3.
The photos below were taken before, during, and after the ceremony.

Freeport Truck Company 1 (Excelsior Hook & Ladder Company No. 1) helped drape a large American flag for the ceremony with their 218 vehicle.

The ceremony was led by Columbus Avenue School principal Alma Rocha.

Ms. Rocha invited children to the podium to lead the Pledge of Allegiance.

Then, a performance of the national anthem, “The Star-Spangled Banner.”

Prayers from Rev. Robert Dawley, Freeport Fire Department chaplain

This photo shows a plane freely taking off from John F. Kennedy International Airport above as the ceremony continues below.
Amanda Muldowney, former Leo F. Giblyn School principal, read the names of Freeporters lost on 9/11, including her brother-in-law Richie Muldowney. A bell was rung for each name.

Freeport Fire Department members congregated afterward.

This girl got a chance to ring the bell.
